NEWEL POSTS AND NEWEL CAPS
|
NEWEL
POSTS
The newel post gives strength and rigidity to you balustrade.
The quality of its fixing is paramount. A newel post is not
always meant to match your spindles, however in some cases
it will, this will depend on the type of system you choose.
Whereas there are no rules on mixing these designs with your
spindles, we will try and guide you to the most likely types
to suit your needs in order to give continuity and harmony
to the look to your new stair parts.
Some
of the newels pictured only show the top half ( drop-in newel).
This is to illustrate that all newels are available separately
and softwood newels can be supplied complete or separate.
Drop-in newels are useful if your joiner decides to utilise
your existing newel post for example. In addition ,we can
supply different sized newel bases to achieve different heights
depending on the layout of your stairs.
Drop
in newels typically have a 50mm dowel in order to fix to a
base (not shown).
Remember if you don`t see one you like, we will make one to
your design.

NEWEL CAPS
Newel caps finish off the top of the newel post. Typically,
the wood type of cap would be the same as your post, but not
in every case. This is an inexpensive way to personalise your
stairparts. Various designs can give different looks. We will
be happy to demonstrate the various types and the different
effects they give to the newel post and indeed your staircase.
